Castor Banks
Castor is renowned for its abundance of Dogtooth Tuna, Marlin, and Sailfish, setting it apart as a premier destination for spearfishing enthusiasts. Few places around the globe can rival the sheer numbers of incredible fish you’ll encounter here.
The reef rises from hundreds of meters deep to approximately 20 meters, with occasional bumps and shallower areas reaching depths of around 15 meters. This unique topography offers exceptional opportunities for reef fishing, particularly on days with slow currents. Target species include impressive coral trout, groupers, jobfish, and snappers.
Situated approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Nosy Be, Toraka Castor covers a vast area. Given the considerable distance, we opt for live-aboard setups, allowing you to dive during the optimal first and last light periods without spending hours commuting each day. Navigating the expansive Castor Banks to find prime diving spots requires years of experience and understanding of tidal patterns. As a result, you may explore different locations with each outing, ensuring every dive is filled with excitement and new discoveries.

Intermediate Banks
Tokoka Anelanelana, located west of Cape San Sebastian, is a smaller bank renowned for its challenging conditions and remarkable opportunities for spearfishing enthusiasts seeking giant Dogtooth Tuna. Situated closer to the prevailing easterly winds that envelop the northern tip of Madagascar, accessing this area can be difficult. However, when weather conditions permit, it offers an excellent chance to hunt for these majestic fish.
The reef rises to depths of only 28 meters, making this area more suitable for experienced divers. Our primary dive site, Spot X, is known for its large Dogtooth Tuna specimens, some weighing up to 100kg.
