Ascension Island can be spearfished on a budget. Sure the costs of getting there are going to be the same regardless of how much money have. But you can do Ascension on the cheap. Well relatively anyway.
If you are confident that you do not need the expert help and have done tuna trips before then it is possible to do Ascension by yourself and still get great fish. The cost of hiring just the boat at Ascension is £2390.00 per person for the std 8 days diving (10 day trip with 3-4 divers in a group)
The accommodation at the Obsidian Hotel can be steep, but if you plan enough in advance you can hire a self catering cottage for much less and you can share costs. And as of very soon there will be alternative flights via St Helena which could be cheaper.
